![]() I haven't checked that out yet, but that might be interesting for integrating into other smart home applications and if I find a add-on motorized valve closer that maybe uses batteries or DC power I can add that in later to make a shut off. Flume is a self-installable leak detection device that helps you catch small problems before they cause big damage. However, I tested it by timing the filling of buckets and also comparing the meter reads over 24 hours. I was very skeptical about how accurate the Flume would be because it straps onto your water meter and indirectly measures flow rate by measuring the magnetic field somehow. It has a pretty solid iPhone app and web portal. It comes with internal batteries and there is no subscription required with Flume.Įssentially it is two components, a sensor you strap beside your main water meter and a wireless bridge you place inside your house that receives the data and connects to your wifi. ![]() ![]() After the device is installed, current Mercury homeowners customers in AZ, GA, NJ, NV, OK, TX, and VA will receive a discount on their homeowners policy. If you don't require the automatic shut off the Flume can passively alert you to abnormal water usage and send you and an emergency contact alerts. Mercury is partnering with Flume, a leader in smart water loss detection and prevention technology, to provide the Flume 2 device at a discounted price: 159 instead of 199 (+ tax and shipping). I don't have space or power for it near my plumbing. I imagine Flo is geared more toward people with basements with exposed pipe runs and power near by. The only similar device I was aware of was Flo by Moen and it is probably a more comprehensive solution if you have enough access to your main water line to plumb it in and have power nearby.
